Growing up on Nun’s Island, a community that overlooks Griffintown and its surroundings, I have seen first hand the changes this neighbourhood has been going through in the past couple of years. Seeing how numerous amounts of buildings have been going up made me wonder who decided to put these up, and why they were doing so. It’s after a bit of research as well as talking to people living in the area that the reason for this growth in condominium is due to city planners realizing that Griffintown is a very desirable place to live. Being a business student at Dawson College, I was intrigued to see what the impacts of this hyper density and gentrification movement was and how the residents of Griffintown as well as Montrealers see this change in housing diversity.
